KING'S REVIVAL
Multiuse Community & Education Center - spring 2019
King Records, located in Evansville, Ohio, was once one of the biggest record companies in the United States, fostering musical legends like James Brown, Phillip Paul, and Bootsy Collins. This collaborative studio challenged us (Ali Garcia, Patty Gibboney, Richard Luongo, Connor Bussick, and myself), with reviving the historic site to create a community center to honor the past and inspire the future. What ultimately defines the legacy of King Records are the creators themselves. The musicians are who we still remember, the music they made, their personalities. The legacy lies with the people, not the building itself. We wanted the space to be a tool for creatives, and the spunk to come from the generations of tomorrow.
